CONSERVATION OF BIODIVERSITY; SAVING CULTURE

Elephants are of high value to the Bakweri people and their disappearance may mean the loss of their rich culture; "the elephant dace
locally known as "the malay dance"

This video is an epitome of the legacy of the Bakweri people. Elephant, the most wanted and illegally/uncontrollably exploited (poaching) wildlife today due to the increasing demand of ivory is making some African cultural and traditional values vulnerable like that of the Bakweri people which depends on the very existence of Njoku (elephant) family. Should this flagship specie of Mount Cameroon get to extinction, then the Bakweri clan might exist without a culture or tradition.
